Tagging Icons

Icons can be tagged with meaningful words to help with searching and to create subgroups or categories within an icon set. Icons can have multiple tags.

Ways to Tag Icons

There are four ways to tag an icon:

1. Edit Mode - Select Edit mode and click on the icon - In the editor panel, add tags in the tags field

2. Right-Click Menu

  • Select the icons to be tagged
  • Right-click on the Icons View
  • Select Tag Selected from the menu

3. Selected Icons Action

  • Select the icons to be tagged
  • Choose Selected Icons in the Icon Set List
  • Click the Tag action button at the bottom of the Icons View

4. Automatic Tagging on Import

  • When importing SVG icons from a folder, create subfolders named with desired tag names
  • Place icons in the appropriate subfolder
  • On import, Iconomizer will automatically tag the icons and create corresponding tag categories for the icon set

Creating Icon Set Categories with Tags

After tagging icons, you can find them using the search field in the Toolbar.

You can also create categories within an icon set. Categories are groups of icons with a similar kind, purpose, or theme. For example, within the Font Awesome icon set, you could tag all company logos with the tag "logo".

To create a tag category:

  1. Right-click the icon set in the Icon Set List
  2. Select Add Tag Category

Selecting a tag category will display only the icons with that tag.
